Happy Birthday Mr. President-Elect!

Is there a more unique birthday gift than being elected President?! One hundred years ago today, the American people delivered this special gift to Warren G. Harding, who was celebrating his 55th year of life. Harding was elected on November 2, 1920, with a landslide in both the popular vote and the electoral college vote. Notable in the map above is the fact that the Democrats did not break out of the southern states anywhere; the only state which was not a former member of the Confederacy which voted for Cox was Kentucky. Harding was even able to win the state of Tennessee, breaking into the Democratic Party regional stronghold.

Remember to vote tomorrow and exercise your rights in this democratic republic just as those who elected Harding did in the past; let us pray that our nation goes through another peaceful transfer of power and that we find our common trust in the ongoing American experiment.

If you are interested in celebrating and commemorating Harding's birthday and election for dinner tomorrow with your families as you binge the 2020 election commentary, you can make Harding's favorite dish: good 'ol fashioned chicken pot pie!

Or, have breakfast for dinner and try Florence Harding's waffles!

Good night folks!
