News: Harding Presidential Center and the Pandemic

The Warren G. Harding Presidential Center is a planned museum in President Harding's hometown of Marion, Ohio. While the Ohio History Connection website (linked above) still lists September 2020 as the time of the grand opening, an article yesterday from the Marion Star - the paper which President Harding owned, published, and brought to prominence starting in 1884 - reports that facility officials have decided that pushing for a September opening would be unreasonable in the face of massive uncertainties regarding the SARS-CoV-2 ongoing public health crisis. The Harding Home adjacent to the new Presidential Center has been under renovation to restore it to 1920's-era accuracy, and it too was planned to be unveiled at some point in the coming weeks to align with the centennial of the "front porch campaign." Hopefully, the Center and home will be open soon enough and able to safely accommodate eager history buffs and Harding fans such as myself. The new museum looks to be a marvelous opportunity for future generations to better appreciate the peculiar legacy of Warren G. Harding.
